Classic longitudinal incision for Achilles tendon repair is through poorly-perfused skin, so classic surgical repair of rupture of Achilles tendon may be followed by some problems of wound healing, skin necrosis, infection, adhesion of the tendon
to
skin, scar irritation and pain.
Aldam(1989) proposed the new technique of repair of the Achilles tendon, in which using a small transverse skin incision, cosmetically acceptable and minimal adhesion between the kin and paratenon.
We experienced Aldam;s technique for the decrease of operation complication from sep?mber 1991 to May 1994, Eighteen cases of acute Achilles tendon ruptures within 2 weeks were repaired by Aldam's method. All of them wer healed primarily without
any
problems.
